Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team on a full-time contract basis. The role offers the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate. The successful applicant will have strong skills in QuickBooks Online and the ability to manage a variety of accounting and compliance tasks with minimal supervision. You will work closely with our directors and support staff to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

Contract Terms:

Full-time hours – Monday to Friday

Initial contract length: 3-6 months initally

Potential for permanent role after successful contract completion

Competitive hourly/daily rate commensurate with experience

Hybrid work option available after the initial onboarding and training period

Key Responsibilities:

Manage end-to-end bookkeeping and accounting for a portfolio of clients

Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and payroll tax returns

Complete year-end financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies, and trusts

Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts

Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks Online and associated applications

Assist with management reporting and cashflow forecasting

Liaise directly with clients regarding queries, documentation, and deadlines

Ensure compliance with ATO requirements and relevant legislation

Support process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a public practice or similar accounting role

Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online (certification preferred)

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)

Familiarity with LodgeiT, TaxDome, or similar software (advantageous)

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation

Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team

Qualifications:

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (essential)

CPA/CA qualification or working towards (preferred)
