Business Development Engineer T & D WA
Itch Recruitment
Posted 4 hours ago
You’re an engineer first. Someone who understands power systems, specifically Transmission and Distribution, not just product specs.
If you're motivated by solving complex technical problems, building trust with smart clients, and shaping solutions that genuinely make a difference, this role gives you the autonomy and support to thrive.
You’ll be the face of a business that’s been quietly powering major infrastructure across Australia for decades. The role covers WA, NT and SA, and the product range is exactly what you'd expect from a business with real credibility in this space.
You’ll be consulting across utilities, transmission, distribution and industrial sectors, offering solutions that include:
- Protection relays
- Substation gateways
- Cellular routers
- Power quality monitoring
- Switching and industrial networking solutions
This isn’t catalogue sales. This is about understanding a client's challenges and designing the right solution.
The right person will have a solid sales background, technically capable, commercially minded, and comfortable owning the full sales cycle from scoping to close.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing and growing a defined territory across WA, NT and SA
- Working directly with utilities and industrial clients to solve technical challenges
- Preparing quotes, specs and proposals with the support of a national team
- Developing long-term relationships with engineering and commercial decision-makers
- Providing feedback and insights to the wider business to support product development
- Attending industry events and customer meetings to stay ahead of trends
What You’ll Need
- A degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- 3 to 5 years in a technical role working with sub stations, ideally with some client-facing or sales experience
- Min 3 years in a Sales/BDM role, and familiarity with transmission and distribution networks
- A self-starter who enjoys autonomy and takes ownership of results
- Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex ideas
Why This Role?
- You’ll take charge of a region with huge growth potential
- You’ll represent a business that delivers on its promises and backs its people, Australian management and access to decision makers(did that make you raise your eyebrows considering your current role??)
- You’ll be supported by engineers who know their stuff and respect yours
- You’ll be trusted to get on with it without being micromanaged
- You’ll be working with a team we’ve trusted and recruited for over 14 years
