ABOUT THE POSITION.
We are currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Sydney. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on strengthening the company’s market presence in NSW through proactive business development, client relationship management, and strategic project acquisition. While maintaining a solid foundation in technical delivery, the ideal candidate will be passionate about networking, identifying new opportunities, and building sustainable business growth.
DUTIES.
- Lead business development initiatives to expand the company’s geotechnical services
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities through networking, client meetings, tenders, and industry events
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, consultants, contractors, and government bodies
- Lead or contribute to major bids, proposals, and presentations, including scoping, pricing, and commercial negotiations
- Provide high-level technical direction and oversight on selected key projects
- Work closely with the Sydney and national leadership teams to shape business strategy, marketing efforts, and client engagement plans
- Mentor and support a team of geotechnical engineers to ensure delivery excellence and client satisfaction
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
- Extensive and proven experience in geotechnical engineering, with strong exposure to the Australian market
- Proficiency with geotechnical analysis tools (PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Rocscience).
- Demonstrated leadership in project delivery and client engagement
- In-depth knowledge of ground investigation, soil/rock mechanics, foundation and retaining design, slope stability, and construction methodologies
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
