Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service (CAHS) are seeking an enthusiastic and committed person to fill the full-time position of Family & Domestic Violence Advocate. This position will actively work with the local Aboriginal community and relevant government and non-government agencies to reduce the incidences and prevalence of domestic and family violence while work in a multidisciplinary team.
Note: This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander "Identified" position authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW
The Family & Domestic Violence Advocate will report directly to the Practice Manager.
Essential:
Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with ability to provide proof of Aboriginality (mandatory),
Experience working in an Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation or providing community health to Aboriginal communities,
Experience working within the domestic violence field (highly regarded),
Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage clients and show empathy,
Knowledge and understanding of the impact of domestic and family violence,
Current nationally coordinated criminal history check, NSW working with children’s check and unrestricted class C or P2 driver’s license.
Desirable:
Certificate IV in Aboriginal Family Well being and Violence Prevention Work or Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice or Certificate IV in Community Services (or currently studying towards)
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willing to obtain)
Proof of vaccination must be provided upon acceptance of appointment.
Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
