NTBA is a Darwin-based company specialising in bituminous sealing. As part of a leading global road surfacing group, they have a strong track record of delivering high-quality road surfacing projects across the entire Northern Territory.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Darwin. While the position is based at our Darwin depot, travel will be required to all parts of the NT as you will be supporting the Sealing Crew.
This role reports to the Projects & Operations Manager and will be responsible for servicing the company’s mobile plant, heavy vehicles, and equipment. Your duties will include scheduled maintenance, preventive maintenance, repairs, and responding to breakdowns.
Key responsibilities & requirements:
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns.
- Repair faulty or damaged mechanical parts.
- Perform routine repairs to plant and equipment.
- Complete scheduled services and maintenance activities in accordance with designated schedules.
- Participate in risk management and hazard identification processes.
- Maintain critical spares inventory.
- Conduct safety checks and complete damage reports.
- Requires flexibility in working hours to meet project demands and operational needs.
- Weekend work and travel to remote locations will be required.
- Be a team player and have a “can do” attitude.
- Have proven problem solving & organisational skills.
- Be reliable and able to work unsupervised.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 10 years’ experience as a Qualified Mechanic and a minimum of 5yrs industry experience in Bituminous Surfacing.
- Experience with the following specialised construction equipment brands - Volvo, Hino, Scania, Mercedes, DAF, Schaefer and Secmair is highly regarded.
- Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or a recognised equivalent.
- Truck licence – Minimum HR essential, HC highly regarded.
- Forklift Licence – essential.
- First Aid & CPR Certification – advantageous.
- Construction Induction (White) Card certification will be required.
