The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Assistant to join the Public Law team in Melbourne. This is a high-volume litigation practice representing key government clients. Responsibilities include:

• Opening and closing files
• Completing client billing and reports
• Answering phone calls and assisting with matter enquiries
• Scheduling appointments, court events, and diary management
• Preparation and reconciliation of expenses
• Organising events and functions
• Providing general administrative support to solicitors

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a career Legal Assistant with at least two years of experience. We will also consider law students with at least one year of experience, at least two years remaining in their degree, and availability to work a minimum of four days per week.

You will have a professional approach and excellent organisational and communication skills, with a strong client service focus. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential, and skills in PowerPoint are also desirable. You will be able to prioritise tasks, show initiative, maintain strong attention to detail, and consistently meet deadlines. Prior litigation or public law experience will be highly regarded.
