The position is responsible for managing national submissions for the Health and Community Services Directorate. Responsibilities involve coordinating and guiding the team in preparing and submitting data to relevant national authorities to meet Health and Community Services Directorate’s obligations to Commonwealth agencies. The role requires hospital costing and health system data expertise in order to effectively engage with key national bodies including the Independent Hospital and Aged Care Pricing Authority, the National Health Funding Body, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare and other Commonwealth agencies.

This role demands sound understanding of health data and experience to effectively manage the national submissions process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The incumbent will provide direction, strong attention to detail, and interpersonal skills that are instrumental in ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations and requirements.

Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge

1. Demonstrated experience in managing a team, sound organisational skills and the ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
2. Experience in understanding Electronic Medical Records data, including SQL to extract, compile and present data.
3. Demonstrated high-level understanding of health data systems, particularly those related to national submissions, with an ability to scrutinise data to guide policy development.
4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with stakeholders, prepare ministerial briefs and influence analytics culture to achieve positive outcomes and guide business decisions.
