About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Infrastructure Manager to lead our IT infrastructure function nationally. Reporting to our Senior Manager, IT this hands on leadership role is responsible for ensuring stable, secure and high-performing infrastructure services that enable seamless port operations.

Based in Sydney with occasional travel to Brisbane, you will oversee a team of direct reports, manage critical systems and networks and take ownership of operational KPIs. You will be accountable for proactive service delivery, knowledge transfer within the team and clear stakeholder communication.

This role requires a balance of technical expertise, people leadership and a continuous improvement mindset to ensure our infrastructure supports both current operations and future growth.

Key responsibilities

Leading and developing the Infrastructure team to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Overseeing the performance and security of servers, networks, cloud environments, and enterprise systems.

Managing priorities and workloads to ensure service requests and projects are completed on time.

Implementing documentation, knowledge sharing, and process improvements to support efficiency and resilience.

Maintaining compliance, renewals, and system uptime to meet operational needs.

Building strong relationships with stakeholders and providing clear communication on priorities and progress.

Collaborating with local and global IT teams to align with international standards and initiatives.

Essential Criteria:

Proven experience leading IT infrastructure in a complex operational environment.

Demonstrated experience leading IT infrastructure in a mission-critical or complex operational environment.

Strong technical knowledge across networks, servers, storage, cloud computing, and virtualisation.

Experience with enterprise-grade security controls, monitoring tools, and backup/disaster recovery solutions.

Familiarity with service management platforms (e.g. JIRA Service Management, Confluence).

Understanding of ITIL or similar frameworks for service delivery and operations.

Leadership style that combines technical credibility with coaching, mentoring, and team development.

Strong problem-solving and incident management skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Full Australian working rights and eligibility to obtain/maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).

SICTL is on a 45 hectare site and officially opened in July 2014.
