About the Role:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the buildings and facilities at St Marks are well maintained in a safe, efficient, and presentable condition. This includes supervising and coordinating the maintenance team to ensure that all tasks are carried out effectively, safely, and to a high standard. The role also includes participation in an alternating on-call roster to respond to after-hours security activations and urgent maintenance issues, always ensuring the safety and security of the school’s facilities.
The key areas of responsibilities include:
Diagnose and complete day to day repairs
Assemble and install new equipment
Fabricate classroom and other school fittings, including welding and cabinet work
Carry out preventative maintenance
Proactively identify and resolve safety hazards
Liaise with teaching and other staff
General labour, including lifting
Carry out other tasks as directed by the Facilities Manager
Adherence to policies and procedures
Staff Supervision
Provide day-to-day supervision, support, and direction to the maintenance team, ensuring tasks are prioritised and completed efficiently and to a high standard
Monitor staff performance and provide feedback, mentoring, and guidance to promote a collaborative and productive working environment
Allocate work assignments and manage workloads based on team capacity and operational priorities
Assist the Facilities Manager in recruitment, induction, training, and performance appraisals of maintenance staff
Ensure that all team members comply with the school’s policies, safety standards, and workplace procedures
Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team
Qualifications and Experience
Carpentry qualification or equivalent would be beneficial
Working at heights certificate is desirable
Previous experience in completing varied tasks including performing physical work
Current Working with Children Check
Current National Police Clearance (dated to within 6 months of your start date)
Experience working in a school would be an advantage
