Casuarina Steiner School is looking for a dedicated and joyful Class Teacher to guide our 2026 Class 1 cohort through their Steiner schooling journey from Class 1 to Class 6.

Situated on the sub-tropical Mid-North Coast, on the edge of beautiful bush land in the beachside city of Coffs Harbour, Casuarina Steiner School offers a unique education for children aged from 12 months to 12 years.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Class Teachers deliver the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework and NESA Syllabus with a pedagogy grounded in Steiner’s indications and an anthroposophical understanding of child development. At Casuarina Steiner School this work is supported by the Berry Street Education Model. The child is engrossed in learning that fully engages their senses, and the Class Teacher continually develops their inner skills and resources to ensure they are “worthy of imitation” and able to grow with the children throughout their schooling years.

THE ROLE
Class teacher; Permanent, Full-time. Beginning January 2026.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Qualification in primary teaching with current NESA accreditation or ability to obtain.
Qualifications, training and/or experience in Steiner education.
Current NSW Working with Children Check or ability to obtain.
SELECTION CRITERIA
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate teacher who embodies the following qualities and skills:
Commitment to Steiner Education: A deep understanding of the principles of Rudolf Steiner Education and the indications of Rudolf Steiner, supported by contemporary insights into child development, teaching and learning.
Commitment to Inner Work: A commitment to professional learning and inner development through anthroposophical studies, artistic activities, self-reflection and collaborative learning.
Teaching Experience: Experience teaching in a Steiner educational setting, with the ability to plan, deliver, and assess the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework. This includes integrating the arts: music and singing, painting and drawing, movement, modelling, speech, and drama.
Relationship Building: The ability to develop positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a supportive and collaborative community.
Cultural Contribution: A willingness to actively participate in and contribute to the cultural and festival life of the school, enhancing the overall school community.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with children, parents and colleagues with empathy and clarity.
Inclusive Practice: Ability to understand the needs of all children, including those with disability or trauma, and make appropriate adjustments in consultation with families, learning support educators and professional specialists.

SALARY & CONDITIONS
This position is classified as Teacher under the Independent Schools NSW (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.
The classification level will depend on your skills and experience, with an annual salary range from $90,100 to $127,281 plus super.
