Expression of Interest – Youth & Family Support Roles (2 Positions Available)

Status: Full-Time or Part-Time Fixed Term.

The contract is valid until the end of the current funding period.

Salary Level: Level 3-4 (increment level negotiated based on skills and experience)

Award: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award

Location: Townsville, Queensland

We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join our team in Townsville. Multiple positions are available, offering a diverse mix of case work, program and group support, community engagement, and practical assistance for young people and families.

These roles are ideal for professionals who are passionate about early intervention, youth, family and parent support, and working alongside vulnerable young parents and young people at risk of disengagement or homelessness.

About the Work

Depending on skills and experience, responsibilities may include:

Providing case management and practical support to young people and families

Facilitating group activities such as parenting sessions and supported playgroups

Supporting access to housing, education, training, health, and community services

Assisting with transport, supervision of young children, and food preparation

Engaging families in early intervention strategies, including mediation and conflict resolution (formal qualifications in mediation highly desirable).

Advocating for client needs across service systems

Supporting program reporting and evaluation

Promoting safe, inclusive, and culturally appropriate practice

About You

We’re interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate:

Experience working with young people and/or families in a support or casework capacity

Understanding of issues affecting young parents and young people at risk

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and families, and those from culturally diverse backgrounds

Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively

Familiarity with local services and community networks (or willingness to develop this quickly)

Relevant qualifications in areas such as Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, or similar

NOTE: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Lived experience and cultural knowledge are highly desirable and will be regarded as valuable in engaging effectively with community.

National Police Check

First Aid & CPR Certificates (or willingness to obtain)

Open Manual Driver’s Licence (QLD)
