Who is Bare?
Bare is a company dedicated to providing accessible, affordable end of life care. Our aim is to change the game in the funeral industry which has long provided traditional, cookie cutter services that don’t always meet the needs of the modern Australian. We are a holistic end of life care provider, allowing our families to grieve in their own way, at their own pace, knowing their loved one is cared for through a simple process by a team who truly understands their needs.
By combining empathy with technology, we’re creating end-of-life experiences that are simple, personalised and affordable. In only three years, we’ve served more than 30,000 families, have become Australia’s most awarded end-of-life provider (with awards in customer service, innovation and digital disruption), and have built a team of more than 100 people committed to changing the way Australians deal with end-of-life. And we’re just getting started.
As part of this mission, we’re growing our arrangement team - and we’d love you to consider joining the mission.
So what is the role, exactly?
As a Funeral Conductor your role will play a crucial role in making sure the funeral ceremony experience for families is exceptional. You will work closely with our funeral arrangers in planning the event and be the person in charge of the day of the event, ensuring all runs seamlessly for the family and the day is one for them to remember and cherish.
Your empathy, creativity, communication and attention to detail will be key in creating memorable ceremonies that truly make the event special.
That makes sense, but what would my day to day look like?
In this role you're working with families in their most difficult time. They are looking for guidance, empathy and support on the day of the ceremony, someone who can ensure the service runs smoothly for all attendees. Each day would involve:
working closely with our funeral arrangement team to ensure all the finer details are known and executed on the day
setting up and greeting people arriving at the service
answering questions and supporting those in attendance
being the trusted guide on the day for the family of the person who has passed
working with cemeteries, chapels, venues and other vendors to ensure service delivery is impeccable.
supporting with the dignified preparation of the deceased, including confirming identification and ensuring they are suitable for family viewings.
You will report into a Regional Lead of Funerals, and work with an amazing team of like minded people.
Role expectations:
Be a true beacon of support on the day for the families we serve
Work efficiently and with care to ensure all elements for a service come together on time
Represent Bare's values - Bravery, Ownership and going the Extra Mile in every service
Communicate with families in an empathetic, respectful and professional manner
Open communication and collaboration with the arrangers at Bare to ensure updates and information is provided according to expected timelines and all is in place for a successful service
Provide honest and transparent feedback so we can make sure we consistently improve everything we do
Ok, sounds great. Who are you looking for?
This is a hard, but super impactful role. Families come to us in all kinds of circumstances, and we become their trusted advisor through a difficult part of their lives. You need:
a genuine love of providing empathy and support to people from all walks of life
comfortable directing people who need thoughtful, non judgmental guidance
the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
comfort working with technology and following processes
the ability to take control of a conversation and become a trusted advisor
previous experience in funerals is valued but not essential, what matters most is empathy, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
Most importantly, we want someone who believes in our mission. Everyone at Bare is driven by the impact of what we’re doing, we want to make sure that continues with every new hire that joins our team.
What’s in it for me?
Someone in the end-of-life team recently described the team as “this is the most impactful work I've ever done. I feel lucky to be able to help people that truly need support". So, there’s that. In addition, we offer:
Great opportunities for personal growth, promotion, and career development
The ability to work-from-home - with lots of autonomy and flexibility
A friendly, fun, and supportive environment - people love what they do at Bare
Competitive remuneration package
The change to make an impact at one of the most critical moments in someone’s life
The main reason you will join however, is because you believe in what we do and are excited about truly transforming an industry.
