About the role
Centrecare, in partnership with Waalitj Foundation, will provide culturally and developmentally appropriate psychosocial, family, peer and other support services to at-risk children, young people and their families who have both mental health challenges and offending behaviours. The overall goal is to reduce the risk of reoffending in the context of mental illness in consultation and collaboration with other service providers, including the Child Adolescent Forensic Service (CAFS).
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Case Worker to support children, young people and their families working with the Child and Adolescent Forensic Service in the community or at Banksia Hill Detention Centre. The successful candidate will provide social, emotional, cultural, and/or mental health support to young people and their families through a case management model. The position is based in East Perth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide social, emotional and/or mental health care to children, young people and their families who are clients of CAFS.
- provide cultural liaison and family engagement where relevant and provide cultural interpretations to the broader CAFS teams.
- Work within a multidisciplinary environment to contribute to and enhance the provision of mental health assessments and relevant interventions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, documentation, and reports in compliance with organisational policies and requirements.
What we are looking for
- Recognised tertiary level qualifications in either Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Social Sciences, Aboriginal Studies and related disciplines. Demonstrated experience working in the mental health sector and/or with young people.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar position.
- Ability to work full-time.
- An understanding of strength-based approaches to client services.
- Previous experience in a similar position.
- Federal Police Clearance and Working with Children Card.
- Possession of a valid WA driver’s licence and vehicle.
