The Team:
Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is Tasmania's largest hospital, and the Department of Medical Imaging within the RHH provides imaging for all of Southern Tasmania. Medical Imaging provides services across all Imaging modalities to the hospital, clinics and Emergency department. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
You will provide an effective and efficient Ultrasound imaging service for inpatients and outpatients of Medical Imaging, RHH. You will also assist the Senior Specialist Sonographer – Ultrasound in providing clinical leadership, professional support and ensuring best practice standards for ultrasound imaging services are provided by the RHH in accordance with organisational policies and the professional code of conduct.
You will need:
- Broad knowledge of and competence in conducting a wide range of ultrasound examinations.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment including the ability to support team members and to communicate effectively with respect and understanding.
- Good interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with junior staff, peers, supervisors and managers, patients and the general public.

Details of appointment:
Multiple Permanent full time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

- Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
- A market allowance of 20% of the base salary is applicable to this role.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry
- Accredited with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry and if also practising as a radiographer, registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change.
