St. Thomas the Apostle Primary School, Cranbourne East is seeking passionate, dedicated, and dynamic teachers to join our Casual Relief contract teaching team. St Thomas the Apostle PS is looking for an energetic, passionate and talented classroom teacher to join our vibrant, diverse learning community as a Casual Relief teacher. We are seeking applicants who are available for any number of days in a week (you tell us what your availability is).

Our Community

The school community is structured in single level streams with four classes of 25 students working in a flexible learning environment. The teams work collaboratively, planning together and supporting each other to ensure the best outcomes for our students in a professional learning environment. The school has 700 students and is richly blessed with a community comprising of people from many countries and cultures.

We usually have need for between 2 and 6 Casual Relief teachers on any given day for leadership release, graduate and PTT release and to cover leave/illness.

Teaching and Learning Philosophy

At St Thomas a Science of Reading approach is engaged to explicitly teach the skills for reading. Evidence based approaches are used across all curriculum areas, with our students experiencing systematic sequential learning to support their academic growth. Our teaching staff work collaboratively each week to assess, plan and enact learning opportunities. Regular opportunities to reflect on their impact are inbuilt. The school community has experienced staff ready to support a new CRT team member to embed them in the 'St Thomas Way'.

Casual Relief staff will be fully inducted including a paid day to learn how to operate our learning materials, get familiar with the environment, learn about how you can support the ethos of a Catholic school and undertaking all child safe inductions.

Casual Relief staff are invited to attend all professional learning activities offered at the school and certificates offered to support PL hours for VIT registration.

The successful applicants will need to demonstrate a commitment to Catholic education. All teachers are welcome to apply (experienced teachers and graduates, Catholic and non-Catholic) and will be supported to understand and enact the Catholic ethos. Following in the mission of Jesus to love one another, we embed Catholic Social Teaching principles and are forever curious like our Patron Saint, Thomas.

These are teaching positions under the DOSCEL 2022 Enterprise award.

The successful applicants will hold Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration - full or provisional. We are in a position to support a graduate to full registration.

the school may be in a position to support an application for the CRT position from the holder of a Working Holiday visa with appropriate education and registration (VIT)
