About the role:

Meeka Metals is building Western Australia’s newest gold mine and requires a Pit Technician assisting the mine geology department at the Murchison Gold Project.

Reporting to the Geology Superintendent you will be responsible for assisting the open pit mine geology team in production grade control and ore spotting activities. Additionally assisting with exploration drilling work for both surface and underground rigs along with core yard protocols. The role being offered is permeant full time. Pit Technicians with greater than one year experience are encouraged to apply.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Open pit ore spotting and material movement tracking.

Ore markups.

Working on RC and Diamond drill rigs.

Assisting geologists with daily drilling and production related tasks.

Core preparation, including but not exclusive to orientation lines, RQD, photography, meter marking, magsus, sampling and dispatch of core.

Operating pXRF instruments.

Data collection and data entry.

Implementing and monitoring drilling QA / QC.

Preparing drill sites.

Weekly and monthly stocktake, audit, order and maintain an adequate supply of field consumables for surface and underground.

Required skills and experience:

Proactive attitude and a willingness to develop knowledge.

Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills essential.

Ability to work with a team harmoniously.

Always actively participate in continuous improvement.

Always actively participate in the strong safety culture at Meeka Metals

Display sound judgement and problem-solving abilities.

The ability to work independently and unsupervised.

Current police clearance.

Current unencumbered C Western Australian Drivers Licence.

Forklift ticket highly regarded.

Basic proficiency with computers.

Night shift on a revolving DS/NS rotation.

Preferably at least one years’ experience as an open pit field technician.

4WD competency (Desirable).
