About your new role

As a Senior Community Infrastructure Planner within the Open Space and Community Infrastructure Planning section within the branch, you will play a key role in planning and delivering open space and community infrastructure within the City, ensuring that residents and visitors have access to quality park, community and sport and recreation opportunities.

Key deliverables for the position

Working in a specialist team of open space, parks and infrastructure planners.

Long term network planning to support sport, recreation, physical activity opportunities and amenity values for a growing and diverse residential and visitor population.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with limited direction and exercise exceptional initiative, judgement and integrity, within a highly complex and diverse work environment of multiple stakeholders, often with competing interests.

Technically proficient with a strong understanding of the role of open space in broader land use planning and development assessment decisions.

Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects to a high standard and to deadlines with exceptional stakeholder management.

Demonstrated experience in town planning and the development assessment process and the ability to interpret historical development approvals.

We're looking for people who have:

You are highly experienced and skilled in parks, open space, recreation, or town planning with extensive experience in open space, park and recreation planning and infrastructure delivery.

You will have a bachelor’s degree of Urban Design/Town Planning and/or Regional Planning or equivalent knowledge with a minimum of 5 years experience.

You have exceptional communication skills, professional, highly motivated, professionalism and able to learn quickly with limited supervision.

Managing multiple projects of varying sizes and delivery requirements to a high standard, to timeframes, with exceptional stakeholder management.

Demonstrated experience in town planning and the development assessment process and the ability to interpret historical development approvals.

Experience in managing Infrastructure Agreements and negotiating terms for the delivery of trunk infrastructure.

Outstanding analytical, problem-solving and decision-making ability with the capacity to research, develop and implement practical responses and draft executive-level reports.

Highly effective interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to consult and communicate with internal staff and external stakeholders, including Councillors, Executive Management and the Gold Coast community, external government agencies and a proven ability in negotiation and influencing.

Highly developed written and oral communication skills, including preparing high quality reports, that are clear, concise and provided in a timely manner.

You can handle matters of a confidential nature, incorporating a degree of judgment and initiative.
