Description

We’re looking for driven and committed VCE Physics tutors to join our passionate tutoring team at Contour Education. Take the lead in helping students get the most out of their learning experience, build strong relationships, and make a real impact.

As an Assistant Tutor, you will play a crucial role in supporting student learning by acting as a secondary tutor during classes (most classes have two tutors), helping address student questions and clarifying concepts while the primary tutor teaches. You'll also conduct 1-on-1 video consultations outside of class hours, which students can book at no extra cost, provide ongoing text-based support to answer student questions promptly after class, and proofread and review learning materials to ensure quality and accuracy.

All additional support provided to students outside of scheduled class hours is completely free for students, but you'll be fully compensated for your time and effort!

Multiple roles are available across our Victorian campuses: Point Cook, Narre Warren, Glen Waverley, Box Hill, and Melbourne CBD. This role also offers a hybrid work-from-home component, for proofreading, consultations, and text-based support.

Competitive Pay and Compensation

Assistant Tutors earn a competitive hourly rate with clear pathways for progression into primary tutor roles and senior positions, offering higher pay and greater responsibility. For secondary tutoring, 1-on-1 consults, proofreading, and text-based support, the rate is $30 per hour (plus Super)—so whether you're supporting students in class or working from home answering questions, you’ll be paid for every hour you contribute. Plus, you'll enjoy great perks like paid subscriptions to Netflix, Spotify, Apple Music, Uber One, Amazon Prime, and more.

Academic Requirements

⭐ 40+ Raw Study Score in Methods and Specialist Maths and Physics
🎓 First Year Uni Subject Specific Knowledge or Above
🕒 Tutoring Experience in Methods and Specialist Maths and/or Physics
🏆 Academic Awards in Methods and Specialist Maths and/or Physics

NOTE: These are not hard-fast academic requirements; however, they are favourable to your application.

Personal Requirements

• Full Academic Year Commitment (e.g. no overseas exchange trips for 8 weeks)
• Sign an NDA (e.g. can't distribute our resources/company info to others)
• Agree to a non-compete clause (e.g. you can't tutor student groups for others, exceptions apply, let us know!)
• Ability to Commit to Weekly Classes (e.g. can't constantly reschedule or miss classes)
• Travel to our Locations (e.g. Glen Waverley, CBD, Box Hill, Narre Warren or Point Cook)
• Genuine Desire to Motivate Students (e.g. your primary goal is to help students achieve their potential, like us!)
• Past VCE Graduate (we still accept applications from non-VCE graduates in exceptional circumstances!)
