Position: Middle Leader - Pastoral
Commencement Date: 19 January 2026
Tenure: Full Time, Fixed Term Contract (Full Time, Permanent Teaching role with a 1 Year Fixed Term Appointment to the Middle Leader position)
Salary Range: $86,600 to $124,725 per annum pending experience + $13,024 Middle Leader Allowance per annum

As TCE’s newest school and Townsville’s first Catholic co-educational secondary college, Mary Help of Christians Catholic College opened in 2025 with five Year 7 classes. In 2026, we will expand to include Year 8, growing to a 7-12 community of over 800 students by 2030. About the role

Mary Help of Christians Catholic College, Shaw is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Leader - Year 7. This is a permanent teaching role with a one year fixed-term appointment to the Middle Leader position for 2026. The successful candidate will be eligible for a further three-year fixed-term contract with the commencement of the new middle leader cycle in 2027.

This exciting role supports the mission of the College through the leadership and implementation of pastoral care and wellbeing programs and processes for a specified year level cohort at the college. The successful applicant will be able to articulate a vision for the pastoral care and wellbeing of students in Year 7 at the college and play a crucial role in establishing routines, expectations and wellbeing supports which are vital for a successful transition to secondary school.

The Principal also welcomes applications from experienced upper primary teachers who desire a transition to teaching in the secondary context.

Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other

Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers

Current Driver’s Licence

Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
