Position Overview
The Transport Clerk plays a pivotal role in the logistics and supply chain operations by ensuring the efficient management of transportation processes. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who possesses strong organizational skills and a comprehensive understanding of logistics operations. The Transport Clerk will be responsible for coordinating transportation activities, maintaining accurate records, and facilitating communication between various departments and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of transportation routes to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain and update transportation records, including shipment details, delivery schedules, and vehicle maintenance logs, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to coordinate the timely pickup and delivery of goods.
- Process transportation documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and shipping manifests, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and promptly.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and address any issues that may arise during transit.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving issues related to transportation logistics.
- Assist in the preparation of reports related to transportation metrics and performance analysis.
- Support compliance with safety regulations and company policies, contributing to a safe and efficient workplace.
- Participate in training and development initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge in logistics and supply chain management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in a logistics or transportation role is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with transportation management software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating clarity and professionalism.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also demonstrating independence and initiative.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in all documentation and records.
