We’re looking for a passionate and talented Workshop Leader to lead our Canberra Accessible Filmmaking program. You'll be planning and delivering filmmaking workshops that guide participants through every stage of the creative process. You'll work within our Program Framework to create meaningful learning experiences that build both technical skills and personal confidence.
Our full year program runs for 40 weeks with one filming day. This is a short casual contract for the final block of 10 weeks, and there is potential for renewal for 2026.
Days of Employment:
Rostered Dates: Saturdays, October 11 - Dec 13 2025 (inclusive)
Workshops are on Saturdays from 9.15am-12.45pm. You are required to complete preparation work during the week and upload workshop slides by 5pm each Wednesday. You’re expected to work on average 5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement 10 x 3 hour Filmmaking workshops, guided by Bus Stop Films’ Program Framework
Prepare a block (term) plan
Arrive 15 minutes before the workshop and stay back 15 minutes after for a debrief
Set up/pack down room and equipment for workshops
Request and/or manage guest workshop leaders, working with them to plan your collaborative workshops
Engage and encourage participants to participate in the workshops and filming day
Engage support staff in workshops and direct according to the needs of the group
Identify resources and requirements for workshops
Identify opportunities for program excursions with the Program Delivery Manager for your region
For the program’s short film production, work with the COO/Head of Screen
Complete an inclusive filmmaking project with your program and within the approved budget and guidelines
Attend production meetings and support in the delivery of the film project
Attend end-of-term debrief meetings, induction sessions, online info sessions and any other ad hoc meetings that may arise, which will be organised to consider your time schedule
Maintain timely email communication with your Program Delivery Manager in order to facilitate the smooth delivery of the program each week
Perform ad hoc administrative tasks as they arise
Maintain a valid, up-to-date Working with Children Check for the duration of your employment with Bus Stop Films, and provide us with updated details/scans upon renewal
Selection Criteria
Experience in filmmaking and film education
Strong workshop facilitation and group management skills
Ability to work with diverse participants and adapt teaching methods accordingly
Excellent organisational skills
Exceptional communication skills with patience and empathy
Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively with different stakeholders
Clearances needed
Valid Working with Children Check
Recent Police Check
First Aid (preferable but not required)
