An established and growing food manufacturing organisation based in Derrimut, is seeking a highly capable Senior Accountant to join its finance team. Operating across domestic and international markets, this business is known for its commitment to quality, compliance, and innovation. Due to continued expansion, a newly created opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded and technically strong Senior Accountant to support strategic financial operations.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take ownership of financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and process improvement. This is a hands-on role with exposure across the business and the opportunity to mentor junior staff. You'll play a key role in month-end and year-end close, general ledger management, and financial planning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with AASB
- Month-end and year-end close including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- General ledger maintenance and complex balance sheet/P&L reconciliations
- Budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring with department heads
- Tax compliance and liaison with external advisors
- Audit coordination and preparation of supporting documentation
- Fixed asset register management and depreciation schedules
- Review and enhancement of internal controls and accounting processes
- ERP system utilisation (MYOB, Xero, or similar) and support for upgrades
- Cash flow monitoring and reporting
- Stakeholder engagement across internal and external channels
- Mentorship and review of junior finance staff
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical accounting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to communicate fluently in both English and Mandarin.
You will have:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar accounting role within a manufacturing or operational environment
- CPA or CA qualified (or working towards)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and tax obligations
- Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency (MYOB, Xero, or similar)
- High attention to detail and analytical capability
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Mandarin language skills are essential.
