Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

The Cyber Security and Resilience Branch, within the Technology Services Division, implements the requirements of government security policies and frameworks. This is achieved by providing strategic, tactical and operational Agency-wide oversight of Cyber Security and Operations.

The National Disability and Insurance Agency (NDIA) is seeking candidates to fill Cyber Security Engineer vacancies.

As an APS6 Cyber Security Engineer you will be part of a team responsible for developing and delivering cyber security capabilities and internal and external identity and access management solutions.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Identifying, planning, and implementing enhancements to the Agency’s threat landscape.
  • Utilising cyber threat modelling techniques to develop systems specific use cases, monitoring plans and cyber security incident response plans.
  • Working autonomously with limited direction and identify and drive work through to completion.
  • Communicating with influence to ensure deliverables are aligned to Corporate Plan and organisation goals.
  • Mentor and provide expertise within a team environment and engage with internal/external stakeholders.

What we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:

  • Minimum of two years full-time Cyber experience in Operations or Engineering.
  • Experience with Australian Government governance concepts with a focus on ICT, policy/standards development, documentation of frameworks, and assisting in the reporting to Senior Executive.
  • Demonstrated experience in Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) including curating and optimising threat feeds, research into emerging threats and trends and integration of threats into operational platforms and reporting.
  • Experience in operating Vulnerability Management platforms in an enterprise environment including cloud, endpoints, network infrastructure and producing reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise scale SIEM engineering.
  • Experience with cloud security tooling and cloud platforms (SIEM, SOAR, Endpoint Security, AWS, Azure, O365).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Have a positive, contemporary attitude towards people living with disability, and an understanding on how to ensure documentation and communications can be written in an accessible way.

While this role is ideally performed from Geelong - VIC, Richmond - VIC, Surry Hills - NSW, Brisbane - Qld or Deakin - ACT, flexible working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 Clearance, undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
