Join a respected organisation as an Accounts Officer, with a salary between $60k-$75k. Take ownership of AR/ AP operations, work with diverse stakeholders, and ensure smooth financial processes. Enjoy flexible work, a collaborative culture, and supportive leadership in a team that values growth, accuracy, and excellence-perfect for detail-focused professionals seeking their next career step.

What you'll do:

As an Accounts Officer based in Melbourne, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of the accounts function. Your daily responsibilities will include maintaining robust financial systems. You will work collaboratively with various teams to guarantee that invoices are processed accurately and delivered on time. By performing regular reconciliations and preparing comprehensive reports on collections and cashflow forecasts, you will help drive informed decision-making within the finance department. Your proactive approach will see you identifying potential collection issues before they escalate while also contributing valuable insights through financial analysis. In addition to these core duties, you will have opportunities to suggest process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency. The role also involves managing invoicing for related parties and providing support on additional finance-related tasks as needed. Success in this position requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, effective time management abilities, and a genuine commitment to teamwork.

  • Maintain the AP/ AR records to ensure data integrity and up-to-date records at all times.
  • Accurately process invoices and deliver them promptly to vendors (debtors), ensuring all documentation meets required standards.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations by identifying discrepancies, validating differences, and referring them to relevant parties for resolution.
  • Prepare detailed reports on weekly and monthly receipt collections against forecasts as well as 12-month rolling cash receipts forecasts, highlighting significant month-on-month movements.
  • Identify pending collection issues early on, escalate them as necessary, and provide actionable recommendations to resolve outstanding matters efficiently.
  • Conduct monthly financial analysis including reviews of doubtful debts and propose necessary actions where required to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor overdue amounts such as pending or cancelled payables each month and ensure adherence to established collections processes.
  • Implement improvements in cashflow receipt reporting accuracy by enhancing information flow from the CRM system into financial records.

What you bring:

To excel as an Accounts Officer in this organisation, you will bring proven experience in managing end-to-end AP / AR processes within a busy finance environment. Your background may include formal qualifications in finance or accounting; however, hands-on expertise is equally valued. You are comfortable navigating multiple software platforms including Excel for data manipulation and reporting purposes. Your interpersonal skills allow you to build positive relationships across departments while maintaining professionalism when dealing with external contacts such as auditors or government agencies. A meticulous approach underpins your work ethic-ensuring every invoice is correct before it leaves your desk-and your organisational skills mean nothing slips through the cracks even during peak periods. Above all else, your willingness to collaborate makes you an asset within any team setting.

  • A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Commerce is preferred but not essential; candidates with equivalent experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word is essential for managing data analysis and reporting requirements effectively.
  • Demonstrated keen attention to detail ensures accuracy across all aspects of AP / AR operations.
  • Excellent communication skills enable you to interact confidently with internal teams as well as external stakeholders such as auditors or tax agents.
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment supports shared goals across finance functions.
  • A proactive mindset allows you to identify issues early on while suggesting practical solutions that improve processes or outcomes.
  • Strong time management skills help you balance competing priorities while meeting deadlines consistently.
  • A client service focus ensures that both internal colleagues and external partners receive prompt responses and high-quality support.
