About the role
Gindaja Treatment and Healing Indigenous Corporation is seeking a full-time Learning and Wellbeing Centre Coordinator to join our team in Yarrabah, Queensland. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations and programming of our community-focused learning and wellbeing centre, ensuring it delivers meaningful support and positive outcomes for our local residents.
What you'll be doing
Develop, implement and evaluate a range of educational, recreational and wellbeing programs and activities for youth and adults in the local community
Liaise with community stakeholders, partner organisations and government agencies to identify and address the unique needs of the Yarrabah community
Manage the day-to-day operations of the learning and wellbeing centre, including budgeting, staff supervision, and compliance with relevant policies and regulations
Foster a welcoming, inclusive and culturally-appropriate environment that promotes community engagement and empowerment
Collect and analyse data to measure the effectiveness of centre programs and activities, and continuously improve service delivery
Represent the organisation at community events and advocate for the needs of our clients
What we're looking for
Selection Criteria
A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and their cultures, and a comprehensive understanding of the issues that are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as they relate to alcohol and substance dependency
Highly developed communication skills (including negotiation, conflict resolution/mediation and report writing) with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to engage with a comprehensive referral network, including both generalist and specialist services and resources within the community in the areas of alcohol and drug services, health, welfare, housing and employment services.
Demonstrated competence in standard computer programs (Word, Email, Browsers, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher etc)
Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in providing client support and AOD treatment services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their families and communities, including experience in developing client programs and group facilitation
Demonstrated experience in the supervision of client care staff and staff professional development/training as well as undertaking staff performance reviews and performance management
Understanding of, or ability to acquire knowledge of workplace health and safety practices
