Based in Sydney, we specialise in criminal defence, with a focus on serious and complex matters.

We also have extensive experience in quasi-criminal and regulatory matters, and act in select civil cases.

About the Role

We are seeking a law student with experience in the legal industry to join our team as a casual paralegal.

Applicants without experience in the legal industry will not be considered.

Duties:

Secretarial tasks, such as answering phones, sending emails, photocopying and scanning documents and staffing the front desk.

Filing documents.

Managing the calendar.

Taking notes in conferences with solicitors and barristers.

Preparing briefs for counsel.

Typing correspondence and advice.

Reviewing evidence.

Assisting solicitors with the day-day management of their practice.

Criteria:

Experience working in the legal industry, with a preference for candidates who have experience in criminal law.

Completion of the first, second, third or fourth year of an LLB or JD.

Able to work at least 3 days a week, with a preference for candidates who are able to work more than 3 days a week and those who can work consecutive days.

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively both within a team and independently.

Ability to manage competing deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

A passion for criminal law.

Duration:

Casual with an immediate start.

Flexible during exam periods.
