Metrowest Group is currently seeking an experienced Electrical or Mechanical Field Service Technician for a position within the Metrowest Service Group to assist in servicing our installed base of industrial power generation equipment.

What the role will involve:

Installation, commissioning, repair, testing and service (whether routine or emergency) of business-critical power generation equipment (product specific training provided)

Reactive and preventative replacement of rotating machinery including laser shaft alignment (training provided)

Provide technical support to customers and subcontractors.

Support and manage subcontractors during onsite work.

Working independently with minimal supervision.

Working in a safe manner and following company and customer procedures.

Execute preventive Electrical and/or Mechanical trouble shooting and analysis.

Prepare and execute installation maintenance in accordance with the applicable procedures, guidelines, instructions, and international standards.

Report progress and quality with the Service Manager.

Technical, maintenance and fault report writing and providing recommendations to customers.

Assisting clients in their queries and ensure that follow ups are conducted.

Reviewing any outstanding tasks and resolving them within an appropriate time frame.

Skills and qualifications

Required

Australian working rights.

experience in power generation industry or transferable field

Experience installing and maintaining industrial machines.

Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.

Willingness to learn and improve skills through internal and external training programs/courses.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Have a strong focus on promoting and displaying a positive attitude towards safety.

Be willing to travel and work away interstate for short periods (up to 10 days)

Ability to work unsupervised and autonomously, and within a team environment.

Ability to solve relevant technical issues both on site and over the phone when required.

Have competent planning and prioritising skills.

Basic level computer skills.

Valid driver’s license required, with good driving record

Desirable

Formal qualifications in mechanical or electrical disciplines or qualified Electrical or Mechanical Fitter, or Electrician

Background in diesel engine technology.

Instrumentation experience

Experience or knowledge of rotating machine shaft alignment
