Group Exercise Instructors

This is a casual position, and staff may be called upon at short notice to help cover staff leave and unexpected absences. The role offers a competitive hourly rate starting from $50.36 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading) plus superannuation .

We're on the lookout for motivated and enthusiastic fitness instructors to join our team on a casual basis-bringing energy, safety, and fun to our group exercise programs, including Council's corporate fitness sessions. Be part of a vibrant, health-focused team making a difference in Wollongong.

We run a variety of group exercise classes including a range of Les Mills Programs, Freestyle and Interval training sessions, Aqua Aerobics, as well as Senior and Gentle Exercise Programs.

Under Part 2, Section 6 of the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012, this position has been designated as requiring a paid Working With Children Check.

How you will make a difference:

As a Group Exercise Instructor you will be a key player in keeping our classes safe and welcoming. Your role will include:

Friendly, community-focused service - your positive attitude and communication skills will help create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.​

Physical readiness - Applicants must possess a level of physical fitness that enables them to effectively perform the responsibilities outlined in the job description. ​

Team spirit and adaptability - you'll take direction well, stay flexible, and bring a can-do attitude to every session.​

Being flexible and available to work across multiple locations, including weekends and evenings, with shifts between 6:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday to Sunday.​

Do you meet the essentials?
To be considered for this role, you must hold:​

  • A Certificate III in Fitness (Group Exercise Instruction) or A GEL (Group Exercise Leader) qualification by Les Mills
  • Active fitness registration with Aus Active
  • Do you hold a current First Aid Statement of Attainment HLTAID0011 or equivalent?
  • Do you hold a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Statement of Attainment HLTAID009 or equivalent?
  • Paid NSW Working With Children Check Clearance Number

This recruitment is also a pathway for personal trainers who hold a Certificate IV in fitness to join us. If you're qualified and ready to take the next step, we want to hear from you.​
