About the role

Blackfish Industries T/A Remote construction and engineering is seeking a skilled Carpenter or mixed skill tradesperson to fill a few roles available in our team.

We operate a team in Perth mainly servicing the eastern and southern suburbs with a focus on renovations and extensions.

We also operate a team permanently on Christmas Island servicing Christmas and cocos/keeling islands.

The work ranges through every component of the construction industry so a diverse, flexible and multi skilled candidate is preferred.

Atleast 2 positions available for qualified and a possible position for an apprenticeship for the right candidate.

1 position would be a relocation to Christmas Island which comes with accommodation, car, tools/equipment and paid flight home for agreed intervals (preferably twice a year but negotiable)

The other positions would be for Perth based work with 2-3 trips to the islands when required for various contracts.

All successful applicants will be vetted in Perth prior to any commitment from either party with a likely trial swing on Christmas Island before committing.

What you'll be doing

Perform a wide range of carpentry, roof plumbing, formwork/concreting, cabinetry, plasterboard and external claddings etc etc

Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate and efficient work

Utilize power tools and hand tools to cut, shape, and assemble wood and other building materials

Collaborate with the construction team to identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise

Maintain a safe and organised work environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations

Provide support and mentorship to less experienced team members, as needed

What we're looking for

At least 3 years of proven experience as a Carpenter or similar role with a strong understanding of building techniques and practices

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work

Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently when necessary

Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Current driver's licence and reliable transportation
