Full-Time Cook – Mount Elephant Hotel Motel

Job Overview:

Mount Elephant Hotel Motel, with over 100 years of service in the region, is seeking a qualified and passionate Cook to join our team. Our venue delivers a modern and inviting food experience, offering a seasonal menu featuring local produce and classic Australian favourites. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Cook to grow in a professional, high-volume kitchen environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Preparing, seasoning, and cooking food items including meats, vegetables, breakfast dishes, and desserts across all meal services (breakfast, lunch, dinner).

· Portioning food, arranging and garnishing dishes for presentation.

· Monitoring food quality during preparation and service to ensure standards of taste, presentation, and portion control are maintained.

· Assisting with menu planning and suggesting seasonal additions, in collaboration with senior kitchen staff.

· Managing food stock levels, checking deliveries, and ensuring proper storage.

· Reducing food wastage and assisting in controlling food costs.

· Ensuring kitchen cleanliness and compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WH&S standards.

· Supporting junior staff by providing clear guidance during service periods.

· Cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas to maintain sanitation standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.

· Minimum 2 years full-time experience working as a Cook/Chef in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.

· Proven ability to maintain high standards under pressure.

· Sound knowledge of safe food handling procedures and kitchen hygiene practices.

· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
