Are you an accomplished pharmacist open to advancing your professional career by leading clinical pharmacy services in a Regional Hospital?
Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is public hospital servicing Central Australia and the Barkly Region. The hospital is a 207-bed facility with a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit providing specialist clinical service to a population of more than 42,000 people in the Central Australia Region (CAR) and supports the Barkly Renal Services.
As Senior Pharmacist, Medical Lead (P3), you provide leadership to a resolute team of professional delivering specialist pharmacy services to patients admitted under Medicine at ASH and coordinate research activity within CAR and Barkly Renal Services.
Your key duties involve; overseeing inpatient and outpatient dispensing, providing specialist clinical advice to patients and staff, and as the Pharmacy Resident Preceptor provide supervisory support to medical students.
In addition, you will coordinate educational programs on therapeutics activities, participate in medicine and research committees, and provide training relating to medicines to medical, nursing, pharmacy, and clinical staff. You will also be required to contribute to the weekend, on-call, and after-hours emergency rosters and participate in site visits to regional areas.
To be successful, you require tertiary qualifications in Pharmacy, unconditional registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, have extensive clinical pharmacy experience and demonstrate your ability to maintain currency of clinical knowledge. Your expertise in quality improvement principles and medication safety standards, and ability to plan and prioritise high volume complex workload will be key to your success. High level communication, interpersonal and conflict management skills along with a demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and interacting with patients and families of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is essential.

About 450kms down the road is Uluru, a large sandstone rock formation that is a spectacular sight any time of the year.
