Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
The External Review Branch sits in the Reviews and Information Release Division in the NDIA and are looking to fill multiple APS5 Case Manager vacancies in the Branch.
The External Review Branch manages all external review applications lodged with the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) and aims to improve the experience of current and prospective participants in the NDIA by resolving disputes in a timely and consistent manner.
Multiple APS5 Case Management roles are available in this Branch, across various locations. Where you can add value
The APS5 Case Manager will have a high degree of contact with stakeholders and will be required to provide efficient, accurate and timely completion of duties in line with timeframes set by the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) and Agency service guarantees.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex enquiries.
- Contribute to management of workflow in collaboration with team leadership.
- Gather information from participants and their representatives, planning partners and multiple stakeholders, to enable high-quality planning and evidence-based decision-making.
- Using Tribunal Orders and evidence, build and implement NDIS Participant Plans of supports.
- Work closely with Participants and their representatives to ensure NDIS Participant Plans include funded supports, that reflect Tribunal decisions.
- Resolve issues and complaints in relation to Participant plans.
- Complete administrative and data entry tasks relating to Participant records and task workflows.
- Contribute to the achievement of key performance indicators, including planning targets.
- Preparing and maintaining electronic record keeping, including evidence supporting decision-making processes and justifying conclusions reached during the case management process.
Enough about us, let’s talk about you
To be successful in the role, you will ideally possess skills, experience and/or qualifications in one or more of the following areas: Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology or Physiotherapy, case management, insurance, dispute resolution, or prior experience with the NDIA.
Extensive experience in the disability sector, dispute resolution and mediation, legal processes, case management and/or a therapeutic background is also highly desired, along with highly developed stakeholder engagement skills. The ideal candidate will need to make informed decisions in a timely manner in line with legislation, policies and procedures, and prioritise complex tasks to meet tight tribunal deadlines.

While this role is ideally performed from ACT - Deakin, NSW - Parramatta, QLD- Brisbane, VIC - Richmond, VIC - Geelong, SA - Adelaide and WA - Perth, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
