The role of Patient Liaison Officer has become available in our very busy multi-specialist surgical practice located at the Mater in South Brisbane.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Based within our two offices of Fourth Floor Surgery & Align Orthopaedics + Rehab, we are seeking a motivated and experienced medical administrator who can take ownership of the role and make it their own. Working closely with our Theatre Bookings Co-ordinator, you will need to have an excellent understanding of health funds and surgical quoting in addition to, exceptional communication and organisational skills.
As our Patient Liaison Officer, you will be a highly valuable and essential member of our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the management of each of our patients clinical and surgical booking journey. It will require you to provide an exceptional, personalised, and compassionate level of service to our patients.
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Management and triage of patient referrals (including emergency referrals) by liaising with doctors for required outcomes.
Provide patients with administrative information regarding their upcoming procedure including estimates of fees and pre-operative instructions.
Management of patient surgical deposits.
Managing patient financial records and debt collection.
Back-up to theatre bookings co-ordinator.
Back-up to front desk including answering phones, emails, faxes etc.
Management of dictations including exporting and importing letters from external typist and typing of clinical letters when required.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with patients, doctors, colleagues and external bodies.
At least 2+ years’ experience as a medical secretary or in an administrative support role within a specialist/surgical practice.
Strong time management/organisational skills to be able to multitask and prioritise efficiently.
Understanding and compassion to be able to support our patients and make them feel comfortable and cared for.
Understanding of health funds and surgical quoting.
Understanding of theatre bookings highly regarded.
Medical Software experience (Genie preferred)
Ability to work as part of a team: collaborative and adaptable but also able to work independently.
