Established in 1931 as Brisbane’s main international airport, Archerfield Airport is a proud Australian icon. It was the birthplace of Qantas’ first international flight, the launch point for the first international mail service to England, and the site of pioneering aviation milestones like Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith’s first west-east Pacific crossing. During WWII, it served as an air force base for US, British, and Australian troops under General MacArthur.

Today, Archerfield Airport is modernizing rapidly, with recent investments including a $20 million full reconstruction of the main runway, taxiway, and apron parking area, alongside a new logistics estate attracting a growing number of businesses. About the Role

This is a great opportunity to join a small friendly and close knit crew of grounds workers, maintaining the extensive grounds of the Archerfield Airport precinct. We are seeking a physically fit, reliable, and self-motivated gardener to work with the team and help maintain and enhance the airport’s considerable sized landside precinct. Working hours span from a 6.00am start to 2.50pm, on a 9 day fortnight basis.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about gardening and landscaping, with a keen eye for presentation and upkeep.

You will be provided with uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Key responsibilities include:

Mowing (Zero-turn ride on), whipper snipping, and general garden maintenance

Hedging and trimming of plants and trees

Green waste collection and removal

Weed, pest, and disease control and identification

Operating and maintaining gardening tools and equipment

Performing other duties as needed to meet company objectives

Skills and Experience

Previous experience in a similar gardening or landscaping role

Valid driver’s license (Class C preferred but not essential)

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Competent in using equipment such as zero-turn ride-on mowers, whipper snippers, chainsaws, hedgers, and power tools

Strong work ethic, reliability, and flexibility

Physical Requirements

This role requires physical activities such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Successful applicants must undergo a pre-employment medical examination and drug & alcohol screening in accordance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations.
