About the Role

YWCA Canberra is a registered community housing provider and has been managing housing and homelessness services for families since 1996. The Housing Support Unit (HSU) also provides supported accommodation services on behalf of the ACT Government.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Tenancy Support Worker to join our team and help us deliver high-quality, trauma-informed tenancy management services.

You will provide exceptional client-focused, professional and respectful tenancy management services to YWCA Canberra transitional housing and affordable housing clients, including but not limited to:

Tenancy Management: Manage intake, sign-up, and exit processes; support tenants with Housing ACT applications; collaborate with Family Case Workers to resolve tenancy issues. This position is responsible for all aspects of tenancy management.

Rent and Financial Management: Monitor rent payments and arrears; conduct rent reviews; manage Community Housing Registration reporting; oversee maintenance payments and utilities.

Property Management: Conduct inspections; organise maintenance; manage breaches sensitively and in line with ACAT processes; prepare properties for occupation; maintain key registers.

Reporting & Collaboration: Maintain accurate records; contribute to policy development; attend sector meetings; participate in team activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

Qualifications & Experience:

Relevant qualifications in Community Services or Property Management (Real Estate certification desirable).

Current full driver's licence

Experience in tenancy/property management and working with vulnerable populations experiencing trauma.

Knowledge of ACT Tenancies Act 1997 and ACAT processes.

Understanding of issues facing low-income Canberrans and diverse communities.

Skills & Attributes:

Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Financial management and organisational skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Commitment to ethical practice, professional boundaries, and continuous development.
