Cross Country Drilling is a family, owner-operated business that has been in operation since 2020. Based on the Sunshine Coast, we service South East Queensland conducting water bores for stock, domestic, commercial, irritation, and agriculture purposes.

About the opportunity:

Cross Country Drilling are currently seeking a Driller Offsider for water well drilling. This is a great opportunity for motivated applicants to enter or continue their experience in the drilling industry.

Successful candidates will learn on the job with training from the Driller.

The roster for work will generally include 10 days on and 4 days off in each fortnight; due to the nature of the work it can vary at times. Some work will be away from home; when staying away from home, accommodation and a daily meal allowance will be provided. This is a casual position with ongoing work for the right candidate.

Requirements:

Be based on the sunshine coast or closer enough to drive to and from the yard daily if needed

Open class manual driver license is ESSENTIAL. Do not apply if you don't have a manual driver license

A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn is essential for this position

Manual labour experience; be physically fit to cope with the demands of the position, and able to work outdoors for 12-hour days as required

Must be self-motivated, work efficiently and methodically, able to follow instructions and operate to company standards

Have a general mechanical understanding to help communicate or identify potential or real issues with equipment and rectify

Strong problem solving skills and must be able to think on your feet.

Strong commitment to safety

Must be willing to work away from time to time

Experience in the drilling industry desirable but not essential

HR truck license (desirable, not essential, but be willing to obtain)

Welding Cert (desirable)

Current Senior First Aid (desirable)

Must be able to pass a D&A test and National Police Clearance

Responsibilities:

Assist drillers with the day to day running of the drill rig

Ensuring enough materials and consumables are onboard for planned daily/weekly operations, and planning ahead at ALL TIMES for upcoming tasks to support ongoing operational activities.

Ensuring all correct drilling tools are onsite in correct position and ready for use

Operating ancillary equipment as required

Reversing trailers behind 4WD vehicles

Assist to set up/ pack up move drill rig and equipment

Ensure positive communications with the driller at all times

Be very accurate and aware when spotting all vehicle movements around drill sites

Ensure all loads are secured and safe for travel

Collect accurate strata sample materials whilst drilling

Prepare and slot PVC casing whilst drilling as instructed by driller

Routine maintenance on drill rigs, equipment, vehicles, and tools

Refueling equipment

Routine greasing of all equipment

Cleaning drill rigs, vehicles, equipment and tools

Ensure the drill site, drill rig, work area, vehicle, and equipment are in a clean, hazard-free condition

Assisting with loading and unloading of equipment on heavy vehicles

Conducting daily pre-start equipment checks

Assist with mixing drilling muds/ fluids/ cement as required

Completing basic operational paperwork

Other duties as required
