Key Responsibilities

We’re looking for a motivated individual to join our Histology team as a Laboratory Assistant on a 12 month fixed term contract. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for supporting daily laboratory operations, including:

Specimen processing and slide preparation

Accessioning, embedding, and microtomy

Slide staining and frozen section preparation

Routine housekeeping and maintenance of laboratory equipment and workspaces

What we are looking for

To thrive in this role, you'll bring a can-do attitude, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to remain organised in a fast-paced environment.

You will also have:

A sound understanding of medical terminology and specimen handling

Strong customer service and communication skills

Flexibility to work across varied shifts between 5:00am – 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, and participate in a rotating Saturday roster and adapt to changing departmental needs

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

While not required, the following experience will be highly regarded:

Previous exposure to histology processes such as accessioning, microtomy, embedding, and staining

Familiarity with the Apollo Laboratory Information System (LIS)
