About the role

We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our laboratory team that provides a comprehensive diagnostic Microbiology service to general practitioners, private hospitals and commercial clients within our Bella Vista facility, NSW. In this role, the successful applicant will be responsible in the field of Microbiology for specimen reception, sample preparation, customer service, and maintenance of instrumentation and equipment and compliance with accreditation and quality assurance requirements.

This position will be:

Casual

Evening work 6pm – 2am

Specific duties include:

Ensure that all company WH&S requirements are observed.

Maintain a high quality, team focused, accurate and efficient work environment.

Triage of samples according to the priority and classification of sample type, testing required and clinical history.

Perform specimen setup including swabs, faeces, urine, sputum, body fluid, tissue.

Perform all processes as per company procedural documentation.

Excellent communication skills in dealing with internal and external clients.

Always maintain and initiate excellent customer service skills.

Display a courteous and responsive phone manner.

Skills and experience:

Preferred Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques with an understanding of Microbiology (or equivalent).

High attention to detail and experience working in a fast-paced environment.

An enthusiastic and flexible approach to work.

Ability to multitask and successfully work as part of a team.

Exceptional time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

The ability to contribute towards the delivery of customer focused services.

Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and a willingness to support colleagues.

Available to work as flexible roster, including weekends and public holiday.
