Position Overview
We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team at Shingle Inn Strathpine. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Examine food items to ensure freshness, quality, and compliance with food safety standards.
Prepare, cook, and present a wide variety of meals in accordance with recipes, menu requirements, and customer preferences.
Portion food accurately and present it attractively with appropriate sauces, gravies, and garnishes.
Regulate ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking equipment to ensure optimal cooking conditions.
Season food appropriately to enhance flavor and ensure consistency.
Store both perishable and non-perishable items in temperature-controlled environments.
Plan menus and estimate ingredient requirements to promote kitchen efficiency and minimize waste.
Prepare meals catering to special dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-sensitive options.
Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen assistants and apprentice cooks to maintain productivity and uphold standards.
Qualifications & Experience
· Certificate III/Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma or an equivalent or higher qualification.
· Minimum of 1 year of experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen
· Strong knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen best practices
· Experience working in a high-volume, customer-focused environment
· Familiarity with a broad range of cuisines and cooking styles
· Excellent time management, teamwork, and leadership skills
