ABOUT THE ROLE
The role of the Platform Operations Engineer is to maintain and support the infrastructure and systems of the business. Infrastructure/Platform Ops Engineers are expected to participate and support IT projects with/for other operational units and carry out systems, networking, infrastructure, maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, troubleshooting and support.
The primary purpose of the role is to provide continuous availability of the services of the business minimising any downtime or service interruption. In addition to core BAU, a Platform Ops Engineer will participate in a variety of Project work and be in a team that is responsible for ensuring the effective, scalable, and reliable operations of all companies software infrastructure.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Audit Compliance
- PCIDSS: Perform PCIDSS activities and provide evidence for the annual audit.
Infrastructure Management
- Incident Management: Ensure effective handling of incidents, requests, and changes within agreed SLAs.
- Service Delivery: Focus on high-quality end-to-end service for clients and staff.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance during and after hours.
- Improvement Initiatives: Participate in initiatives to enhance operational services.
- Documentation: Maintain technical and procedural documentation for PCIDSS, ISO 27001, and organizational compliance.
- Change Management: Oversee changes, patches, and upgrades through the Change Management Process.
System Availability
- Technical Support: Provide after-hours technical support as part of a pager roster.
- Liaison: Coordinate with teams, vendors, and clients for issue resolution and maintain client relationships.
External Liaison
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate with customers, vendors, and partners as needed.
- Project Execution: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and monitor project plans and priorities.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 Years experience working with On-premise data centres, physically installing, configuring and maintaining hardware.
- Minimum 3 years experience with configuring Windows Server (2012 or higher) from scratch.
- In depth understanding of on-premise Active Directory services, managing users, group policies and DNS.
- Configured instances of Ubuntu Server or CentOS for developer and production use.
- Experience deploying Virtual Machines via VMWare Vsphere or VMWare Vcenter in enterprise environments.
- Experience with Azure, Office 365 suite, Sharepoint online, Microsoft Teams applications, AntiVirus, Veeam Backup, WSUS
- Experience with VMWare Esxi, and VCenter
- Experience with setting up network subnets, VLANs, firewall rules and NATs
Nice to have
- PCI Standards: Knowledge of PCI environment standards and requirements.
- Security standards Processes: Understanding of Security standards (PCI DSS, ISO 27001, OWASP) and experience in responding to audits.
- Certifications: In the any of the technologies in required experience.
- Automation tools: Such as Ansible, Puppet and Terraform.
