What does a day at Acacia Therapy look like?
Our work hours are Monday to Friday (no weekend work) – 8:30am to 4:30pm.
We operate from a modern clinic that provides office space and access to numerous therapy rooms.
We see clients in parks, schools, kindy and at home.
KPIs, we don’t use them to measure performance (as they don’t measure quality). We know, based on experience, what a manageable caseload is and what a therapist can achieve in a day.
What will my caseload look like?
As a new graduate, you can expect to see 2 clients per day for the first few months.
From here, your caseload steps up to supporting 3 clients per day, before you settle at around 4 clients per day.
Our slow and steady approach provides you with the time to collaborate with our senior therapists, plan sessions, consolidate your skills, create resources, and to finetune your note taking and report writing skills.
Tailored caseload:
We work with you to tailor your caseload towards your areas of interest. We take the time to understand your professional goals and areas of interest. We also offer new graduates the opportunity to learn about equipment prescription and home modifications (if interested).
As a new graduate, a senior therapist will have input into your caseload to make sure it is appropriate to your skills, experience and professional development goals.
Our investment in you:
Our investment in you is a comprehensive new graduate mentoring and professional development program.
This includes monthly journal club, In-service presentations, weekly face to face catch ups with a senior practitioner, access to a peer mentor and formal PD opportunities. Our clinical manager has taught at university level and has extensive experience in clinical education, along with a wealth of practical clinical knowledge.
If you participate in our rural outreach program, you will be supported to apply for the Health Workforce Queensland Scholarship program. This allows health practitioners to access up to $10,000 worth of PD funding (subject to HWSP approval).
Our mentoring program also provides access to other highly experienced external allied health professionals, including shadowing opportunities, so that you can experience different ways of working and approaches to therapy.
PD package valued up to $2,000 per year (not including HWSP funding). You can also complete PD during work time (no set limit)
