Our client is a federal government organisation with offices throughout Australia. Due to growth, they are seeking an APS6 AWS Platform Engineer to join their team in Richmond or Geelong.

• 18-month initial contract
• Hybrid with 2-3 days per week onsite
• Federal government role - Australian citizenship required

The role:
The APS6 Platform Engineer is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the client's business requirements.
Key duties and responsibilities

• Overseeing a squad of AWS Platform Engineers involving identifying learning opportunities, delegation of tasks, and providing mentoring to junior staff
• Leads the designing, building, and maintaining of AWS infrastructure solutions to support scalable and reliable applications and services.
• Implementing and managing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines that automate deployment processes and ensure efficient delivery.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Developing solutions that enforce security best practices such as Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Australian Signal Directorate (ASD) Blueprints and Information Security Controls (ISM) Controls that protect cloud environments and sensitive data.
• Automating the provisioning and management of AWS infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and utilise Git for version control.

Essential criteria

• Experience in implementing AWS solutions
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams or fulfilling technical lead roles
• Experience in implementing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using IBM Terraform, IBM Vault (formerly Hashicorp) and using Git repositories (GitLab, GitHub)

Desirable criteria

• Experience in implementing Azure solutions
