About the Role
As a Bush Regenerator, you will:
Ensure safety is your priority.
Carry out bush regeneration activities: weeding, planting/ transplanting
Prepare and monitor ecological burn sites
Identify native and exotic plants at various growth stages
Conduct site assessments and develop plans and strategies for bushland areas
Maintain walking tracks through bushland to minimise damage to surrounding vegetation
Assist with the bushland interpretative program as required, including community bushwalks
Weekend supervision and training of volunteer Bush care groups
Maintain effective communication with supervisor and fellow employees
Act with fairness and integrity towards staff and the community
Undertake other duties, projects or tasks as directed and in line with relevant skills and competence.
What You’ll Bring
Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management Natural Area Restoration and/or significant relevant experience
Experience in Bushland Regeneration with good native plan identification skills and knowledge of bushland ecology
Well-developed communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
Proven team player with a willingness to learn and a strong focus on customer service and delivery
Awareness of the safe use of herbicides and applications.
Understanding and experience of the safe use of small plant equipment, maintenance and personal protective equipment requirements.
Hold a White Card
Class C Drivers Licence
First Aid Certificate
Desirable:
Diploma in Conservation and Land Management Natural Area Restoration
Bushfire training/ bushfire hazard reduction experience
Safe and effective use of small plant tools including chainsaws, brush cutters and lawn mowers
Experience in working with volunteer and community groups
Chemical users’ certification
