Albury Wodonga Health - Albury Community Health requires a suitably qualified Stomal Therapist to join our dynamic team based at Albury Community Health. The Clinical Nurse Specialist 2- Stomal Therapy utilises expert clinical skills to support the delivery of patient care withiin the Albury wodonga Health service which includes Acute, Primary and community patient services across all campuses. As a lead clinician they will provide an expert clinical service to support the delivery of excellent patient care, as well as play a role in health promotion and prevention. This role also includes providing advice and education to patients, carers and AWH Hospital staff. Primary responsibilities of this role include:
- To promote, maintain and develop professional standards to the highest degree in relation to Stomal Therapy Nursing as per the Standards of Stomal Therapy Practice (Australian Association of Stomal Therapy Nurses).
- To promote the use of Stomal Therapy Nursing interventions to enhance self-care and empowerment of the person with the potential for, or actual stoma, which will result in optimum recovery and rehabilitation of the individual. This includes the acute, primary and community settings.
- To help patients adjust to living with either a permanent or temporary stoma be it a colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy. This includes pre-operative counselling, immediate post-operative care and education and follow up assessment and counselling following patient discharge.
Employment Type: This is a Fixed Term, Part-Time opportunity at 0.5FTE (20hrs per week) for a period of 12 months
