About the opportunity
The Service Transition Manager is a technical ICT role that is responsible for the Change and Release Management processes, for ensuring appropriate knowledge is available and effectively transitioned into operations; and creating a close association between Configuration Management and Change Management, aligning with Technology Services Management. The primary function of this role is to develop, maintain and improve Change Management, Release Management and Configuration Management (as part of the change process) within the IT function, and ensure good practice principles, processes, methods and techniques are in place.
Please note: this role requires an after-hours on-call support roster for major incident management responsibilities.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- work closely with your manager, the IT Manager for Service Capability and Design, on high-level strategic priorities, and work closely with peers in the Service Management Office to define the overall shape and direction of the service management processes provided to the University
- collaborate closely with key stakeholders and the wider University to ensure the delivery of services and processes meet the legitimate needs of the business partners, customers and users in the University in a timely manner
- resolve issues and identify opportunities to deliver joint initiatives to improve quality of services, processes or technology, while appropriately controlling cost and delivery timescales.
- be the process owner responsible for establishing the Change Management, Release Management, Knowledge Management (as part of transition) and Configuration Management (as part of the change) processes
- ensure that all activities defined within the processes are being performed according to the agreed and documented process, and are meeting the aims of the process definition
- ensure delivery of: process strategy; process design; policies and standards; templates and documentation; training and communication; process operations; process compliance, review and audit; and process improvement.
About you
- IT Service Management ITIL Intermediate Certification or above is desirable, ITIL Foundation Certification and ServiceNow is essential
- competence, knowledge, information and subject matter expertise in IT Service Management necessary to complete the role, with proven ability to implement IT Service Management frameworks and practices across an organisation.
- strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate and liaise with a range of stakeholders at all levels - both internal and external to an organisation - with a record of successful advocacy and tangible outcomes
- proven ability to work at management level across dynamic and complex organisations
- ability to interpret, embed and improve upon best practice policies, processes and procedures.
- experience of conducting extremely complex analysis, using ambiguous information, then identifying underlying relationships, causes and effects, resolving key issues and delivering improvements.
