Your next career opportunity
As a School Support Officer in the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies, you'll play a vital role in supporting a dynamic academic environment. You'll have the opportunity to manage a diverse range of administrative tasks, from financial processes to staff onboarding and facilities management. Working collaboratively with academic staff and university-wide teams, you'll contribute directly to the smooth operation of the School and the success of its research and teaching activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide Administrative Support: Act as the primary contact for School queries, maintain records, and update communication channels.
  • Handle Financial Operations: Process purchase orders, invoices, and payments, working closely with the central finance team.
  • Coordinate Facilities and Resources: maintain equipment and ensure compliance with University standards.
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Assist with the recruitment process, support new staff transitions, and administer onboarding procedures.

You are a proactive and organised professional with excellent communication skills, capable of managing diverse administrative tasks and collaborating effectively in a dynamic academic environment.

You may also:

  • Have completed a relevant degree with subsequent work experience.
  • Possess strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality client service.
  • Have experience in providing effective administrative support.
  • Excel in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Have experience in a tertiary education environment (desirable).
  • Be familiar with Workday, finance, and HR systems (desirable).

The School of Historical and Philosophical Studies was formed in 2011 and comprises the programs of History, History and Philosophy of Science, Philosophy, Classics and Archaeology, the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation and the Program in Jewish Culture and Society.
