Join our team at Southern Downs Regional Council as a Business Support Officer (Road Corridor Management). We are looking for a detail oriented and motivated person to join our Works Department within the Infrastructure, Assets and Projects Directorate, providing essential administrative and operational assistance to ensure the efficient coordination of permit requests for event and road closures, activities within the road reserve, minor works applications and works within the road reserve.
You will be working closely with technical officers, contractors and internal stakeholders to streamline processes, manage databases, track applications and contribute to the safe and effective management of our road network.
Term: Full-time
Hours of Work: 72.5 hours per fortnight
Pay Level: $2806.57 to $3258.83 per fortnight (Level 3-4), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading
In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience.
Employment Base: Warwick, Queensland

About the Department
The Works Department falls within the Infrastructure, Assets and Projects Directorate and reports directly to the General Manager Infrastructure, Assets and Projects to deliver essential services to the community by planning, designing, constructing and maintaining roads, bridges, culverts, stormwater infrastructure, kerb and channel, footpaths and street lighting. In addition, the Works department provides services to the Department of Transport and Main Roads under contract to maintain sections of the state-controlled road network within Southern Downs. The department further governs activities conducted by members of the community, such as the construction of private driveway accesses.
Working within the SDRC Works Department will offer you the satisfaction of directly delivering infrastructure services for the Southern Downs community.

- In consultation with Engineering Project Officers, Technical Officers and Works Supervisors, undertake investigations in relation to complaints and concerns from the community;
- Communicate with the community in relation to compliance with relevant road corridor Legislations, Regulations and Local Laws
- Develop, update and maintain a communication strategy and knowledge base for customer queries;
- Provide high level customer service to permit requests and coordinate official responses in relation to event and road closures, activities within the road reserve, minor works applications and works within the road reserve;
- Provide a high-level of professional, accurate and timely administration support and assistance within the Department and relevant Department functions and reporting systems
What You Will Need
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- The legal right to live and work in Australia
- A Class C (car) licence or greater is required in this role.
- Demonstrated experience in providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
- Sound facilitation, stakeholder management, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with the proven ability to resolve complaints sensitively and effectively.
- Demonstrated experience in working unsupervised, handling challenges effectively and proactively, and prioritising workload to achieve outcomes within required timeframes.
- Extensive office administration experience with the proven ability to use initiative and analytical problem-solving strategies to achieve desired outcomes, and to maintain accurate records and compile reports.
- To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description
