As a senior member of the Family Support Team, the Therapeutic Family Support Manager (TFSM) will provide a client centred, trauma informed approach to support women and children in crisis and transitional accommodation. The TFSM will provide specialist support and programs to children who are experiencing the effects of trauma and provide parenting advice and guidance to their mothers or carers. The TFSM will also provide leadership and advice to other members of the Family Support Team and collaborate with other services and supports to ensure positive outcomes are achieved for the families. As a member of the Management Team, the TFSM will support best practice service delivery and ensure that the organisation is meeting all contractual and legislative requirements.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role, and a minimum Diploma level qualification in a relevant discipline. They will also as a minimum have the following essential skills:
Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed practice
Strong knowledge of child development and family dynamics
Experience in Therapeutic program development and evaluation
Proven leadership and management capabilities
The work schedule for the role will be 4 days per week initially, which may increase to 5 days per week.
Hours of work will be either 9.00 am – 5.00 pm or 10.00 am – 6.00 pm depending on the timing of some programs and activities for families on different days.
This position is for a 12 month period initially.

Provide examples of therapeutic programs you have developed within a Professional Practice Framework that met the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of families in crisis who have been impacted by trauma.
How you measured the success of these programs?
Detail your experience in providing parenting guidance and practical strategies to mothers and / or carers directly, or via secondary consultations with other support services.
Describe your understanding of the physical, cognitive, language and psychosocial stages of children’s development. Outline examples of when you have used milestone assessment tools to assess risks and apply these to the development of family support plans, including referrals to appropriate agencies or service providers.
Detail your management experience, including the type of services and programs, and the outputs, you held responsibility for. How many employees did you oversee?
What’s your experience in providing planned supervision, debrief opportunities, and conducting performance reviews with employees reporting to you?
How would you describe your leadership style?
You must be:
Female (Exemption under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1998)
Eligible to work in Australia, and pass background checks
Knowledgeable in relevant child protection legislation and standards
