Senior Project Officer
Fixed Term / Full Time or Part Time (6 months)
Monday to Friday, up to 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
Pro Rata amount of $101,528 – $105,760 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 5) + Superannuation

Your new role
Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in your community? Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking a dynamic and driven individual to lead the Place of Last Resort initiative, an innovative project designed to support individuals experiencing homelessness and sleeping rough.
In this Fixed Term role, you will coordinate the development and delivery of a safe, accessible temporary camping solution that centralises service delivery and enhances the efficiency of outreach services. Reporting to the Manager Planning & Regulatory Services, you will play a pivotal role in stakeholder engagement, project planning, risk management, and continuous improvement.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring the initiative meets strategic objectives, complies with relevant legislation, and delivers high-quality outcomes for the community. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a project that truly makes a difference, while working collaboratively across Council and with external stakeholders.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for
Proven experience in project and program management, particularly in community focused initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, budgets, timelines, and risks effectively.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across internal teams and external partners.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and local government frameworks.
Ability to identify and implement process improvements aligned with strategic objectives.

Application Criteria
Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Project Management or similar discipline) and/or substantial demonstrated experience in a project management role, particularly in stakeholder engagement and coordination.
Proven ability to lead and coordinate complex community focused projects, including experience in developing project plans, managing budgets and timelines, and delivering outcomes in line with strategic objectives and compliance requirements.
Extensive experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including internal teams, government agencies, service providers, and community members.
Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and standards to ensure project compliance, manage risk, and support informed decision-making within a regulatory environment.
