Barnardos Australia is seeking a dedicated Manager Casework Practice to join our Out of Home Care (OOHC) team. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity to be part of a values-led organisation committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families.

Location negotiable- travel required between Sydney, South Coast and Central Coast.

About the Role
As a Manager Casework Practice, you will:

  • Establish frameworks, including practice systems, to ensure excellence in service delivery to children, young people and their families. Practice is founded on the principles of evidence informed principles, safety and wellbeing and of the highest quality service provision.
  • Build a strong practice culture, informed by relevant research, evidence and data and congruent with consistent practice delivery and improve outcomes for children and young people in OOHC.
  • Provide practice support and advice directly, or through the Casework Specialist team.
  • Conducting case file audits and case reviews with feedback for performance and practice improvement, and support quality assurance within OOHC NSW.
  • Support a team of Casework Specialists to ensure ongoing professional development and practice improvement for Barnardos NSW OOHC programs and staff.
  • Provide supervision to direct reports, Casework Specialists to promote ongoing learning and development within the team and model behaviour to the broader NSW OOHC team.
  • Develop, implement and embed practice training resources/tools/resources that align with the OCG Standards of Care and Code of Practice and Barnardos practice and Outcomes framework, across NSW OOHC.

You’ll join a collaborative and supportive team delivering high-quality, trauma-informed services that uphold child safety, cultural safety, and family-led practice.

Skills and Experience :

  • Tertiary degree level qualification in a Human Services or related field.
  • Knowledge of care and protection legislation and practice regarding permanency outcomes for children in OOHC.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a child protection/family support and/or OOHC context.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and leading teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting and training individuals and teams who are working with families experiencing high levels of risk and complexity.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of current legislation and practices in NSW child protection and Out of Home Care.
  • Experience in a training related role, including the coordination, preparation and facilitation of small and large group training.
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities, including a strong understanding of cultural safety, self-determination, and the historical and contemporary factors that impact Aboriginal peoples.

What’s on Offer:

  • Base salary: $112,175 – $121,583 per annum (pro rata, if applicable) + 12% superannuation
  • Salary packaging: Up to $15,860 tax-free (general living expenses)
  • Meal & entertainment packaging: Additional $2,650 tax-free per FBT year
